Army Public School, Darjeeling started functioning w.e.f. 12 November 1990 at Katapahar with classes I & II having a total strength of 42 students and 3 teachers. The approval for opening of the school was received from Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), Army HQ in July 1990, under the supervision of HQ 123 Mtn Bde. Audio Visual Room

To support Audio Visual Room activities, educational software, a large number of Audio/ Video Cassettes and CD-ROM’s related to the subjects are available. The seating capacity of AVR is about 40.
