SPECIAL CHILDREN FACILITIES

The following types of children with disabilities can be integrated in the school-
~ Children with Locomotor handicaps (O.H.).
~ Mildly and moderately hearing impaired.
~ Partially sighted children.
~ Mentally handicapped educable group (IQ 50-70).
Some of the approaches and services to meet the needs of special children are-
~ Academic and psychological counseling.
~ Learning aids (like abacus, wooden blocks, puzzles etc.)
REMIDIAL INTERVATIONS
~ Use of multi-sensory strategies.
~ Providing opportunity for continuous success.
~ Use of demonstrations and model.
~ Breaking information down into smaller units and making it as concrete as possible for the students.
~ Provision of small group of instruction and manageable tasks.
~ All students are encouraged and given time to work collaboratively and solve problems up to whatever levels they can attain.
~ All students are given a chance to share and justify their thinking in different ways.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS FACILITIES
We want our children to be and stay healthy- in mind, body and spirit. Children should be aware about health and well being to ensure they acquire skills to live healthy and happy lives. Students who are healthy are better learners and academic achievement creates a lifetime of benefits. Healthy children have increased capacity to learn and develop the values, attitudes and skills necessary to be competent, effective and resilient adults.
We aim for and promote overall health and well being by providing-
~ A whole child/student approach-
Learning environments that promote and support student and child well-being focus on their cognitive, emotional, social and physical development.
~ Counseling-
Individual counseling is utilized to promote positive social and emotional development. Regularly scheduled short-term counseling for students and parents is provided. Sessions can last 20-50 minutes, depending on the scheduling. The number of sessions provided will depend on the needs of each individual accordingly.
~ Consultation-
Consultation are provided to parents and students regarding a wide range of potential issues where parents can gain information, skills and assistance in helping students’ personal, social, behavioral and academic development.
~ Health Services-
Health services contribute to the goals of the education system by teaching students about life skills, health and wellness (physical, mental and social well being), providing first aid, supporting students to acquire self-management skills, engaging students in physical education, activity and sports. Use of classroom instructional methods, strategies and activity based learning that are interactive, engages all students and are relevant to their daily lives and experiences.
